Nightingale House Hospice

We work in association with Nightingale House Hospice, fundraising for their wonderful charity. Our grand total for 2018 was £12,425.53. We thank all of our customers for their support. This money was raised through events such as Easter Chick Hunt, Picnic and Proms, Dog Show and Family Fun Day, Christmas Launch Night with Santa and his real reindeers, Santa’s grotto and breakfast with Santa. Bellis’ donate all the grotto gifts so that every penny is going to the hospice. We also have collection pots at all the till points in the Garden Centre and the Restaurant. This money helps the hospice to continue providing specialist palliative care for patients and their families.

Thank you to everyone who supported any of our fundraising events. We have another full fundraising events calendar for 2019.

The Country Trust

Throughout 2018 you may have noticed groups of children swarming across the fields, occasionally sporting the odd giant carrot. We have been working in partnership with The Country Trust to deliver Farm Discovery Visits to 90 children from 3 local schools. The Country Trust is a small, dynamic national education charity dedicated to bringing alive the working countryside for children least able to access it. They work with local volunteer host farms to bring food, farming and the countryside for disadvantaged children. Sharing knowledge, igniting curiosity and broadening horizons. We will continue our work with The Country Trust during 2019.

School Visit with BBC Radio Wales

In October we invited our local school Holt CP School and Holt Under Fives Nursery to visit our pumpkin field and maize maze. Great fun was had by all and they all went back to their classes with a selection of pumpkins to carve.
Pumpkins were certainly a popular topic this year as we had two live interviews with BBC Radio Wales, one about how much it has grown in popularity and the other with Holt CP School children out on the fields being asked lots of questions about what that time of year meant to them. It was a lovely morning and lots of giggles were heard around the fields!

Bellis’ Senior Coffee Club

Bellis’ Senior Coffee Club was launched in October 2018 and now runs every Thursday morning from 9.30am until 10.30am.Everyone welcome to come and join us to make new friends and socialise. Friendly advice and information will be available if you need it. No booking required just turn up on the morning and find us in the Strawberry Fields Restaurant. Special offer available for all attendees of the Senior’s Coffee Club, £2.50 per person for a hot or cold drink with a toasted teacake or slice of Victoria or Coffee sponge.

We look forward to an exciting and active 2019 within our community!
