Alpine plants are those which grow in alpine regions of the world. Typically they are slow growing, long lived, short in stature and have small leaves to withstand the cold. They tend to like stony, free draining soil. In your garden they are perfect for rock gardens (mounded or sloping areas). They can also be planted in containers or used to soften paving or gravel paths.
