Fruit, Vegetables and Herbs

Available from March, our vegetable plants offer a great kick-start to your growing season.

If you want to get a head start with your home-grown vegetables, our wide selection of vegetable plants are ideal. Forget about seed sowing and propagation, our vegetable plants make growing fresh, healthy vegetables easy.

Grow Your Own

There is nothing more rewarding than growing your own fruit, vegetables and herbs. Freshly picked produce can be enjoyed straight from the plant, offering superior flavour and nutritional value. Whether you have a full garden, an allotment or just a small space for containers, growing your own is one of the most satisfying and enjoyable pastimes.

We stock a wide range of fruit, vegetable and herb seeds, along with quality seed composts and growing pots and modules, all available in-store. If you’re short on time, young plants are a convenient and reliable alternative, allowing you to enjoy homegrown produce without starting from seed.

Soft Fruit

We offer a large selection of soft and cane fruit, best planted during the dormant period between November and March. These fruits are suitable for most gardens and include raspberries, gooseberries, blueberries (which require acidic soil), strawberries, blackcurrants, redcurrants, blackberries and vines.

Vegetables

From spring through to early summer, we sell a wide variety of young vegetable plants to give you a strong head start. Buying young plants helps ensure you grow just the right amount, reducing waste and avoiding gluts. Choose from tomatoes, cabbages, peppers, onions, leeks, carrots and more. Fast-growing plug plants such as radish and lettuce are especially fun and easy to grow with children.

Herbs

Our selection of potted herbs is ideal for containers or planting directly into the ground once established. Hardy herbs suitable for outdoor growing include oregano, mint (best kept contained as it can be invasive), rosemary, thyme and sage. Tender herbs such as basil and coriander need frost-free conditions and are perfect for growing on a sunny windowsill.
