We are delighted to have Jamie and the team join us here at Bellis’
Situated at Berghill Farm, Whittington on the Welsh Shropshire borders Jamie Ward diversified from dairy and pig farming into what is now a successful butchery business. It all began 15 years ago when he attended the first Oswestry Farmers Market with a selection of pork and sausages. Since then due to a growing demand he has expanded the business by supplying local shops and garden centres from as far as Warrington to Newtown. Over the years he has been joined, firstly by his wife Janet and then children Victoria and David making it a real family affair. A farm building has now been developed into a registered cutting plant and with the help of a full time butcher all sausages are made and bacon and hams are cured at home. Throughout this time Jamie has always tried to provide customers with locally free range produce, a good reliable service and value for money.
In the summer of 2013 a fantastic opportunity arose when he was invited to join Bellis’ Farm Shop and Garden Centre, another family business. In November Jamie Ward’s Butcher and Deli counter was opened as part of an expansion to their already successful Farm Shop. The butchery team is on site seven days a week, staffed by Jamie’s son Dave and the latest recruit, butcher Lee Clutton.
All the beef and lamb is Welsh sourced from three local abattoirs. Fresh pork cuts are taken from Gloucester Old Spot Pigs obtained from Thomas’s abattoir at Rhos and all the bacon and sausages are cured and made from the home cutting plant. Chicken is Farm assured British from local poultry dealers. With a selection of local cheeses and homemade pies, Jamie’s team takes great pride in offering the highest quality local produce and wishes to assure customers that apart from a selection of Spanish Iberico Serrano Ham and Chorizos everything else is UK sourced.
