This is a quiet time of year for the Farm and availability of our homegrown produce. It will be another month or so before our delicious asparagus will be ready!
There are signs of growth on our established rhubarb plants but not much else showing signs of life just yet.
We will be making a start on spring planting this month which will include cauliflowers, cabbage, potatoes, peas and beans. We will also be sowing the onion seeds.
We have now finished the planting of another 650 meter of mixed hedging to add to the 2.5 km we planted in 2021. All helping to increase the biodiversity of wildlife on our farm.
There are a few changes happening down in the Pick Your Own fields this year. Our old shed is being removed and a new one built in its place, which should make things a little easier for paying this season. We have planted new gooseberry plants that won’t be ready until next year but we have brought back peas and beans for this year!
With it being a quieter time of year for the farm, we are back on top of machinery maintenance and jobs around the yard.
Both the local wildlife and farm staff are looking forward to some warm, dry and sunny weather.
