News from the Farm April 2023

We really appreciate the start of Spring, we don’t need quite so many layers on when working out in the fields! The lambs should soon be arriving on our tenanted fields and we hope to spot a swallow or lapwing flying around very soon.

Plant growth is about right for the time of year. Although Homegrown produce availability is low as we await our main growing season. Purple sprouting broccoli will soon be ready and available in the Farm Shop and we are eagerly awaiting the start of our Asparagus season, this should be ready towards the end of this month.

The blackcurrants are just starting to show signs of new growth and there are also little sprigs of green showing on the raspberries. We have cauliflower and cabbage plants ready to go in as soon as conditions allow. Potatoes and onions have already been planted.

The table top systems will be planted up with strawberry plants this month ready for the coming Pick Your Own season.

Overall a very busy month for growing and planting!
