November 2016 News From The Farm

Our Pick Your Own Pumpkins have been a great success this year, we had just about the right amount of pumpkins. Ore and Joanne, contestants on Strictly Come Dancing Strictly even came along to film a sequence for the hit BBC One Show amongst the pumpkin crop.

The spooky maize maze was also a welcome addition to the half-term activities in the school break.

The Autumn harvesting is nearly all completed so we are settling into the Winter routine of grading potatoes and onions out of the store to ensure a good supply over the winter months.

At the moment we have several varieties of cabbage including tundra, spring, savoy, white and red, plenty of cauliflowers but these will finish soon. We still have our own broccoli but that will come to an end shortly. Large sacks of onions, potatoes and dirty carrots are available to buy in the Farm Shop. Bulk buy and save money.

It is a little early to start just yet but we will soon be ploughing the fields ready for next year’s crops.

The Christmas sprouts are growing nicely and will be ready very soon.

When we have a spare moment during this time of year we continue with hedge trimming and general Winter maintenance around the Farm.
