News From The Farm May 2021

Our homegrown delicious asparagus is ready and available in the Farm Shop now, it was a little late this year due to the colder weather at night.

After a fairly mild winter, spring is moving along nicely. We could do with a little more rainfall to help all our newly planted crops along though. We have started irrigating the onions, carrots, strawberries and brassicas already.

The onions and carrots have been sown. The first two crops of cauliflowers, cabbage and broccoli have also been planted and the third crop will soon be done too. Main crop potatoes have been planted and the maize maze will be planted this month along with the pumpkins.

Strawberries are growing well in the field and on the new table tops, some flowering has already begun which could indicate an early start to the Bellis’ strawberry season. Gooseberries have set and are growing well as are most of our soft fruits. We hope that we will be able to open the Pick Your Own as normal this year but there may be a few new procedures so please bear with us. We will keep you posted on our website and social media pages.
