July 2017 News from the Farm

Due to the warm weather last month we had a much earlier start to our PYO season. We still have plenty of fruit available. Late varieties of strawberries including Symphony and Malwina have been planted so we hope to still be picking strawberries until early August this year (fingers crossed).

The raspberry crop is looking good although we have had to water them well due to the lack of rainfall last month. Lovely large berries have grown and we have a late variety called Octavia which will be available until mid August. Other crops which will be available from the Farm Shop this month are Spring, Summer and Savoy cabbages and broccoli. Cauliflowers should also be ready sometime this month.

The potato crop is looking good and will probably be ready mid August. Onions and carrots are also growing well and should be ready to harvest September time. We have planted plenty of pumpkins to make sure we have enough for our very popular Pick Your Own pumpkins which opens in October.

Jobs around the farm are shifting from planting crops to harvesting them. Our Maize Maze is growing well and we hope to open it towards the end of the summer.
