February 2019 News From The Farm

All the pruning of the fruit trees and plants has now finished and winter ploughing is completed. All the vegetable seeds and plants have also been ordered ready for this year. We can finally move onto all the machinery and general farm maintenance that is required in preparation for the busy planting season.

We are still harvesting Savoy, Tundra and White cabbage but they will finish fairly soon. After that purple sprouting broccoli will be the next homegrown vegetable that will be ready to harvest.

A lot of the wildlife seem to be keeping out of the way currently and probably concentrating on keeping warm. We haven’t spotted any new spring lambs in our tenanted fields yet but hopefully there will be a few arriving this month.

This Spring our Farm Manager Joe is also expecting his own new arrival, junior Joe is due at the end of this month. We look forward to welcoming him to the Bellis’ family!

We have a new member of staff on the Farm Team, Graham Wood. We would like to Welcome Graham to the team and wish him well in his new role.
