Most of December is devoted to getting the extra stock sorted for the Christmas period. We continue to grade more potatoes and onions and have plenty in storage to last the winter. Our delicious homegrown sprouts are now available and there will be plenty available for your Christmas dinner.
Our own grown holly will soon be available in the Garden Centre but it will be a race against time to pick it before the birds eat all the berries.
Most of the winter ploughing is now completed and when we have any spare time there is plenty of pruning and tying in of fruit bushes to be done.
Crops in general are growing as they should as it has been so mild and will continue to do so unless we get much colder weather. Planning for next years crops and rotations take place on rainy days.
January is always a quiet time of year with short days and unsettled weather and we don’t get as many outdoor jobs done as we would like to. It gives us the opportunity to service equipment and tidy the farm.
We hope you enjoy our potatoes, sprouts and carrots with your festive dinner and we wish you all a very ‘Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year’ from the Farm.
