News From The Farm August 2023

Summer Pick Your Own will be coming to an end this month. Thank you to everyone that has visited us. Once it has closed our full-time farm staff can take a well-earned break.

Our Pick Your Own Pumpkin crop and Maize maze are growing well with all this rain we are having and will certainly be ready for you to return to the fields in October. Opening dates will be confirmed very soon!

Currently available in the Farm Shop and homegrown in our fields are savoy cabbage, hispi cabbage, red cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower and kohlrabi.

The new season’s potato harvest will start soon with the tops ready to be burnt off and the crops harvested mid September. It looks like we will have a bumper onion crop this year, they will be ready to harvest by the end of the month and then will be left to dry before being bagged.

We will also be harvesting successive crops of cauliflower and broccoli right up to Christmas or until the first really cold spell of weather, whichever happens first. Sprouts are looking like they will be a good crop again this year too.
