October 2016 News From The Farm

April - loading the potatoesOur potatoes and onions are safely in store now which will hopefully keep us going through the winter. We are now packing and grading potatoes, carrots and onions in sacks which are available for bulk purchase in the Farm Shop.

The warm and dry weather in September has brought forward the autumn cauliflower and cabbage crops and the quality has been excellent.

Pumpkins and squash will soon be ready and in the Farm Shop, perfect for roasting or adding to soups and casseroles.

Autumn cultivation’s are well underway for planting winter corn and the forage maize crops will be harvested in the next few weeks.

The pumpkins are growing nicely and will be ready for our Pick Your Own Pumpkins from 22nd October to 31st October.

Hedge trimming and other field maintenance will carry on throughout the winter. Let’s hope we have another mild one.
