January Farm News 2014

Firstly a Happy New Year to all our customers

There is lots of ongoing pruning, tidying and maintenance this time of the year when there is not much growing. The winter ploughing has now been completed. Potatoes will continue to be graded from the store; carrots will still be harvested subject to the weather conditions. A few hours will be spent fine tuning the cropping plan for this New Year. All of our farm machinery and equipment is checked over and serviced ready for the busy spring season which will soon be upon us.

Rhubarb will be planted as soon as we are able. New posts and wire are to be put in around the raspberries and the Pick Your Own shed will be painted and made ready for the season while there is the time to do it.

On the wildlife front not much is happening at the moment although a couple of hares were spotted behind the farm at Esp Hill.
