Nightingale House Hospice
We work in association with the hospice, fundraising for their wonderful charity. Our grand total for 2016 was £13,054.92 which is amazing, we thank all of our customers for their support. This money was raised through events such as Easter Chick Hunt, Picnic and Proms, Dog Show and Family Fun Day, Christmas Launch Night with Santa and his real reindeers and then Santa’s grotto and breakfast with Santa. Bellis’ donate all the grotto gifts so that every penny is going to the hospice. We also have collection pots at each till point in the Garden Centre and the Restaurant. This money helps the hospice to continue providing specialist palliative care for patients and their families. Thank you to everyone who supported any of our fundraising events. We have another full fundraising events calendar for 2017.
Other community activities that we have been involved in include:
Healthy Eating Project For Holt Primary School
Holt Primary School – Reception class joined us in the Farm Shop in March to choose some of our home grown vegetables to make a healthy soup. They are working on a healthy eating project in class. They also popped to the restaurant for a juice and biscuit before they left.
‘Belle’ the Wrexham Sheep has arrived at her new home.
We are delighted to welcome ‘Belle’ to Bellis’ where she will be part of the new sheep trail around the County Borough.
The lovely children from Holt C P School painted all the strawberries on her for us, didn’t they do a good job!
April Children’s Planting Workshop
The children had a great morning with Bev, learning about how to grow your own vegetables and planting up some pots to go on display at the front of our shop. They also planted up a bean for them to take home and try and grow themselves. The worksheets were great fun and the homemade cookies from the Strawberry Fields Restaurant went down a treat.
Picnic and Proms June
This was another fantastic evening and we didn’t let the weather dampen our spirits! Surely next year we must be due some sunshine. Thank you to everyone who braved the weather we raised £854.60.
