Community Review Of 2015

holt-primary-classHolt Under 5’s – we had a delightful visit to the group in March to plant sunflower seeds and talk about gardening. We were also pleased to support their Scarecrow Trial through Holt village in June. The scarecrows then came and joined us in our new Maize Maze. The children and leaders also came along and had a stall at our annual dog show and family fun day offering activities for all the children.

Holt Primary Class – The reception children joined us in the Garden Centre in May to plant up their old wellies with bedding and basket plants. These wellies were then put on display in full bloom at the entrance to the garden centre.

Our local radio and a group of local school children joined us to interview our Farm Manager Jim about what we grow on our Farm.

Countryside Trust Charity
In the summer we welcomed another group of 30 children to our Farm and our Farm Manager Jim gave them a tour and a talk about how we grow our fruit and vegetables and how good they are for you. We also gave them a mini punnet of strawberries which they picked themselves to take home.

Nightingale House Hospice
We work in association with the hospice, fundraising for their wonderful charity. Our grand total for 2015 was £14,047.46 which is amazing and our best yearly total so far! This money was raised through events such as Easter Chick Hunt, Picnic and Proms, Dog Show and Family Fun Day, Christmas Launch Night with Santa and his real reindeers and then Santa’s grotto and breakfast with Santa. Bellis’ donate all the grotto gifts so that every penny is going to the hospice. We also have collection pots at each till point in the Garden Centre and the Restaurant. This money helps the hospice to continue providing specialist palliative care for patients and their families. Thank you to everyone who supported any of our fundraising events. We have another full fundraising events calendar for 2016. Please have a look at our events page.
